Cigna Dental has the following Pediatric dental coverage plans available: low deductible plans and high annual maximum plans. Low deductible plans include Cigna Dental Preventive, Cigna Dental 1000, and Cigna Dental 1500. High annual maximum plans include Cigna Dental 5000/250, Cigna Dental 3000/150, and Cigna Dental 3000/100.

Cigna dental coverage plans for Pediatric Dentistry

Cigna DPPO networks provide easy access to reputable pediatric dentists nationwide as well as discounts on covered pediatric dental care. When you see an in-network Cigna childrens dentist, certain preventive care services for children are partially or fully covered. You pay a coinsurance (a part of the covered costs) once you meet your dependent’s annual deductible and satisfy waiting periods, and the dental plan covers the remaining costs (up to the yearly or lifetime dollar limit of the plan).

Cigna Dental Preventive

Cigna Dental Preventive is a low deductible plan. Preventive and diagnostic services for children, such as oral exams, cleanings, and x-rays, are benefits fully covered by the Cigna Dental Preventive plan. Please refer to your dependent’s plan documentation for a detailed list of all covered services. Certain covered dental services, such as teeth cleanings, have a limited frequency. For details on the precise frequency restrictions under your dependent’s plan, consult your Policy. With Cigna Dental Preventive, there are no deductibles or maximums and it provides access to Cigna’s convenient nationwide Cigna Advantage DPPO Network.

Cigna Dental 1000

Cigna Dental 1000 is a low deductible plan. Preventive and diagnostic services for kids are estimated to be 100% covered by Cigna Dental 1000 including oral exams, cleanings, and x-rays. Simple restorative care services like tooth fillings and simple extractions are estimated to be 80% covered by this plan. For a complete list of covered services, please read the documentation in your dependent’s plan.

Cigna Dental 1500

Cigna Dental 1500 is a low deductible plan. With Cigna Dental 1500, preventive and diagnostic services for children are estimated to be 100% or fully covered. These include oral exams, professional cleanings, and dental x-rays. Restorative dental care services such as dental fillings and simple tooth extractions are estimated to be 80% covered after plan deductible. Major restorative procedures namely dental crowns are estimated to be 50% covered by Cigna Dental 1500. There’s an estimated 50% coverage for orthodontic treatments that are also included and incorporated in this plan. Please refer to your dependent’s plan documentation for a detailed list of all covered services.

Cigna Dental 5000/250

Cigna Dental 5000/250 is a high annual maximum plan. Cigna Dental 5000/250 offers full coverage for routine dental check-ups for kids, including teeth cleanings and routine dental x-rays after deductible. About $250 individual annual deductible applies to all dental services which include preventive, basic, and major dental restorative services. Around $5,000 in benefits are available and can be applied towards both minor and major dental procedures, like fillings, crowns, and root canals. With Cigna Dental 5000/250, there are no referrals needed. Members and their dependents will also have access to Cigna’s convenient nationwide Total Cigna DPPO Network.

Cigna Dental 3000/150

Cigna Dental 3000/150 is a high annual maximum plan. Cigna Dental 3000/150 offers an estimated 100% coverage for routine dental check-ups for children, including teeth cleanings and routine dental x-rays after deductible. Around $150 individual annual deductible applies to all dental services which include preventive, basic, and major dental restorative services. About $3,000 in benefits are available and can be applied towards both simple and major dental procedures, like teeth fillings, dental crowns, and root canals.There are no referrals needed with Cigna Dental 3000/150. Members and their dependents will also have access to Cigna’s convenient nationwide Total Cigna DPPO Network.

Cigna Dental 3000/100

Cigna Dental 3000/100 is a high annual maximum plan. Cigna Dental 3000/100 offers an estimate of 100% or full coverage for childrens’ oral exams, including dental cleanings and routine x-rays after deductible. About $100 individual annual deductible applies to all dental services which include preventive, basic, and major dental restorative procedures. Around $3,000 in benefits are available and can be applied towards both simple and major dental services, like tooth fillings, root canals, and crowns. Referrals are not needed with Cigna Dental 3000/1000. Members and their dependents will also have access to Cigna’s convenient nationwide Total Cigna DPPO Network.

Does Cigna Dental cover X-Rays for Children?

According to Cigna Dental, routine dental x-rays for children are estimated to be 100% covered while non-routine x-rays for kids are estimated to be 80% covered after plan deductible. Cigna Dental covers 1 set of bitewing x-rays, which consist of radiographs/diagnostic imaging (including interpretation), in any 12 consecutive month period. This is limited to a maximum of 4 films per set. Source

Does Cigna Dental cover Cleaning and Tooth Fillings for Children?

Cigna Dental offers an estimate of 100% coverage for routine cleanings with no waiting period. Coverage for dental prophylaxis or dental cleanings are allowed for 14 years of age or older once per 6 consecutive month period. Tooth fillings for kids are estimated to be 80% covered after plan deductible with a 6 month waiting period. Replacement of an existing composite filling is payable if at least 12 consecutive months have passed since the existing tooth filling was placed. This applies to replacement of identical surface fillings only.

Are Frenectomy, Tongue Tie and Lip Tie covered by Cigna dental?

Cigna Dental 1000 pays for frenectomy (frenulectomy or frenotomy) and includes an allowance for local anesthesia and routine postoperative care.
