A Dental Cleaning for You

We are dedicated to providing comprehensive children’s dental services in a safe, fun and educational environment. We love kids and believe that with regular dental visits and proper oral hygiene habits, your child can grow up cavity free. What is one of the best ways to achieve this? Through professional dental cleanings in the office and proper cleanings at home! A dental cleaning is one of our basic services we offer our patients that can help them avoid dental caries and gum disease.

We recommend receiving a dental cleaning at least twice a year, or every 6 months. Some patients may need to receive cleanings more frequently depending on their oral health. A dental cleaning is a form of preventive dentistry. It seeks to prevent tooth decay and problems with the gums and tissues of the mouth. People should see the dentist often and keep up on proper brushing and flossing to prevent gum disease and cavities. Studies show that with proper care, your child can avoid both of these.

What You Can Expect

What makes a dental cleaning different than simply brushing your teeth at home? We have tools and years of knowledge and experience that you just can’t get at home. Plus, a dental cleaning is more than just brushing the teeth. You can expect the following to happen at your visit:

  • A complete review of your medical and dental history.
  • A thorough cleaning. We use our tools to powerfully brush away plaque buildup and deposits such as tartar from your teeth. Our high-powered tools do more than a simple toothbrush could ever do.
  • Polishing the teeth. A good cleaning is made even better with proper polishing and shine.
  • Diagnostic tests such as x-ray imaging to detect bite and alignment problems, cracked teeth, the presence of tooth decay or abscesses and any other oral health issue.
  • Checking biting, swallowing and chewing patterns.
  • Conducting an oral cancer screening.
  • Assessing if gingivitis is present, which is the earliest stage of gum disease. The gums will become red, irritated and inflamed in this stage. We have tablets that can help children see where they need to improve their brushing.
  • Applying fluoride. This generally comes in a gel or foam form and stays on the teeth for 30 seconds. Fluoride treatments help strengthen the teeth and are safe for children.
  • Information about proper brushing and flossing techniques as well as other ways to maintain a healthy smile.
  • Recommendations for orthodontic treatment if it is needed during adolescence and even childhood.

Boosting Confidence with Teeth Whitening

Not only can a dental cleaning help keep the teeth spic and span, but a teeth whitening treatment can also boost your child’s confidence. Studies have found that it only takes 7 seconds for a person to make a first impression. First days of school are full of first impressions, and you want your child’s to be one that is memorable in a great way. A whiter smile has a substantially positive effect on the way you are perceived by others.

We offer tooth-whitening services to our patients young and old who want to make an impression that lasts. Simply ask about tooth whitening at your dental cleaning or call our office for a free consultation. Teeth whitening is a perfect complimentary gift to a child and will make their smile appear even healthier than just a dental cleaning alone.

Why It’s Important

A dental cleaning is important not only for your oral health, but also for your social life as well. Studies have shown that a better smile can give you more confidence. Who wouldn’t want more confidence? You can give you child the gift of more confidence with cleaner, whiter teeth. A smile is one of the first aspects others notice about a person, and that includes children. A clean smile can say a lot about how well a person takes care of their overall health. If oral health is good, odds are that other aspects of a person’s health are being cared for as well. Boost your child’s appearance and confidence with a cleaner smile today.
